Word of the Week

What’s the meaning of… BEGIN?

This is a word most of you should know, but let’s be honest, many of you forget its past form.

BEGIN (verb): to commence, to start, to do the first part of something.

Past simple: Began / Participle: Begun / Gerund: Beginning

Classes begin on the 1st October

I was bored in the beginning of the film

The verb begin is a very good option to substitute “start”, a verb you sometimes use a bit too much. If you want to make examples please write them on the comments below.
