1. Form
Will
- Affirmative: I will study. / I’ll study.
- Negative: I will not study. / I won’t study.
- Question: Will you study? – Yes, I will. / No, I won’t.
Going to
- Affirmative: I am going to study.
- Negative: I am not going to study.
- Question: Are you going to study? – Yes, I am. / No, I’m not.
2. When do we use will?
- Decisions at the moment of speaking (no plan)
- “The phone is ringing.” → I’ll answer it.
- “I’m thirsty.” → I’ll get some water.
- Predictions / opinions about the future
- I think it will rain tomorrow.

3. When do we use going to?
- Plans and intentions (we decided before)

4. Quick comparison
- Will = spontaneous, now, just decided I’m hungry. – I’ll make a sandwich.
- Going to = plan, already decided I’m going to make sandwiches for the picnic tomorrow.
You can put a simple table on the board and ask them to classify sentences from your stories:
“Will Mickey find the river?” → will (prediction)
