Hi! I’m Fred, a gorilla kid from Green Leaf Jungle.
I wake up at six and stretch. I don’t drink coffee; I drink coconut milk.
My best friend is Mina, a pretty pink gorilla. She loves music and plays drums on tree trunks. She doesn’t sleep late—she catches the first sunbeam.
Every day; we climb vines, help parrots with homework, and clean our camp.
I ask, “Do you swing faster than me, Mina?” “Yes, I do!” she laughs. Fred eats mangoes; Mina eats berries. We don’t scare butterflies, and the jungle doesn’t get bored with us.
Adventures start after school time in the treetops!

Gorillas in Real Life

Mountain gorillas live in rainforests in the Congo region. They don’t live alone; they live in families called troops. One adult male, a silverback, leads and protects the troop.
Gorillas eat leaves, fruit and bamboo; they don’t hunt animals. In the morning they look for food; at noon they rest.
Mothers carry babies on their backs. Young gorillas play and tumble in the grass. Each night they build a new nest from branches, so they don’t sleep in the same nest twice.
Gorillas use sounds and simple hand signs. A silverback beats his chest to warn strangers. Rangers watch the forest and don’t harm the gorillas. Visitors are quiet and don’t touch or feed them.
