The planet is now suffering a great problem, and the majority of people do not know anything about it yet. Please watch the videos and do the task that’s given about the new mass extinction.

This is an activity for B2 students only! The rest of you can watch the video and learn about this great problem the Earth is now facing, but only most advanced students should do the task.

Extinction:

In biology and ecology, extinction is the end of an organism or of a group of organisms (taxon), normally a species. The moment of extinction is generally considered to be the death of the last individual of the species, although the capacity to breed and recover may have been lost before this point.

Once you have watched the video write an essay of about 220 words and mention the following topics.

• What does mass extinction represent for humankind? What do humans represent for the mass extinction?
• Which is the difference between the sixth and the previous mass extinctions?
• How do you think the planet will change after the sixth mass extinction is over?
• One idea of your own
